TRAVELING THE MULTIVERSE WITH IKTOMI
In Nov. 2019, during his Cultural Capital fellowship with First Peoples Fund (utilized for maintaining work with Wonahun Was'te' Studio),
Bazille was awarded a separate grant by FPF to organize and implement an artist residency hosted by James "Just Jamez" Pakootas of DCM Collective/Collective Influence Productions & Devonte T.S. the Solution Pearson of Panoramic Dreams Productions. In just 5 days, the team exceeded the original 14-track goal by completing 24 songs set to extend a three-part series entitled "Traveling the Multiverse with Iktomi".
Watch the Mini-Documentary made by
Counting Coup Media covering a bit of the residency, and scroll down to listen to the series. "Traveling the Multiverse with Iktomi" sets to celebrate and bring empowerment to those encountering Iktomi in their lives and going through hardships in all walks of life.
Coyote begins the series with a collection of songs that cover both michief and misfortune, happiness and sadness. Much like how there are times when one cannot tell if a Coyote is howling out of joy or sadness (sometimes both), the songs in part one come from an energy themed in this way. Released Oct. 1st, 2020
Owl takes focus on this next leg of the journey and part two of the series. Although often symbolized and attributed to messengers of death, the Iktomi series aims to display other ways to play on this theme.
Released Dec. 21st, 2020
Concluding the first run of this series, IKTO finally fully dives into the harder and more controversial topics that Iktomi brings. Released Mar. 5th, 2021
